I hope you’re enjoying our Canadian Tour so far! (See also here and here if you missed the first 2 stops.) This week we venture into Alberta and the glorious Rockies. There are SO many beautiful spots in Canada but some of the views and vistas in the mountains are jaw-dropping. My only complaint during this part of my trip was that Lake Louise was still frozen! I was so excited to see the idyllic postcard turquoise waters with mountains reflections…the thought never occurred to me that the lake would still be frozen in April. Mountain climate for ya! *sigh* One day I’ll get back there and see the turquoise in real life.
Even frozen, it’s still pretty majestic (the white strip at the bottom is the frozen lake)
Banff and the Bow Valley
Banff and Cascade Mountain
Right in the middle of Banff, there is a small peak that you can climb: Tunnel Mountain.
Like to golf? How’s this for views?
Kananaskis
Imagine this was your commute every day. I can’t decide whether I’d be excited to go to work (when the roads aren’t buried in snow), or would get distracted, wanting to stop for picnics and hikes! Probably the latter. Kananaskis
Also commonly seen in these parts…
Castle Mountain
Mount Rundle
Athabasca Glacier
Between Banff and Athabasca
Jasper
Pyramid Mountain
More mountains (and other scenery) next week as we move on to BC.
