In honour of Canada’s birthday earlier this week, I’m going to devote the month of July to a cross-Canada tour. I’ve been as far east as Trois Pistoles, Quebec, and showed you these and other photos from La Belle Province here and here. I also shared with you photos from the lovely Kingston last summer. Our Ontario stop will be in the nation’s capital. I fell in love with Ottawa many years ago when visiting a friend who went to university there. I got to know Ottawa a bit better during more recent visits in the summers of 2012 and 2013, as well as the year I lived there (Sept 2013 – Aug 2014), and many visits since. The following photos are from these visits.
Samuel de Champlain overlooks Parliament Hill from Nepean Point
National Gallery – stunning for both the architecture and art displays!
Parliament blanketed with snow
Quiet stroll down Sussex Drive
National War Memorial…Lest We Forget
The beautiful Rideau Canal
Somerset Street in the heart of Centretown – my old ‘hood! Loved it here.
Corktown – or as it’s unofficially known – the “Love Locks” Bridge
Hogs Back Falls, which I only visited for the first time this week! I can’t believe this is in the middle of the city.
Next time we will start heading west!
