Canadian Tour – 2

Anyone who has driven from Ontario (or further east) to the west coast – through Canada – knows how long it takes just to get through or out of Ontario. I’ve done this twice as a passenger: once by Greyhound bus on a cross-country tour to Vancouver in spring 2001 (with multiple stops in between) and once with family to Regina, SK in spring 2004. Though northern Ontario is beautiful, driving through it for 2 days straight made me sick of seeing rocks and trees! It gave me a greater appreciation of the Prairies – which I think unfairly gets a bad rap. Yes…that too would become boring after awhile; variety is the spice of life, but variety is a matter of perspective.

See? The prairies aren’t so bad! And this is only a fraction of what they have to offer. I’ve seen photos from friends who do a lot of camping and there are some beautiful regions I’ve yet to explore. Next time:  mountains!
