Ottawa’s Rideau Canal – Winter

I’ve been longing to go skating on the canal, but it seems that when I am free the weather decides not to cooperate. For now, I’ll have to look longingly at my photos from past seasons!

Thanks to the NCC (National Capital Commission) for making it possible for us to skate on the canal!

When I lived in Ottawa before (2013-14), I lived really close to the canal and used to skate home from school (Carleton)!

The best part about skating on the canal: Beavertails! I’m not sure if I miss skating more or Beavertails…haha 🙂

I read an article earlier this week on how the ice is created and maintained. It’s far more involved than you would think! A great deal of science goes into it. For those who would like to keep up-to-date on skating on the canal, there is a Facebook page called Rideau Canal Skateway.
