Fun with summer flowers

How has your summer been? I’m finishing up a teaching gig back in Kingston, Ontario. I got to teach in the same program I first taught in two summers ago – remember this? I didn’t do as much site seeing this time around, but I’ll gather my photos in the coming weeks and see if I have enough for another post. In the meantime, I had some fun with flowers last weekend. I became a bit obsessed with this beautiful hibiscus plant that was blooming where I’m staying. After taking some snaps of that, which was a fun appetizer, I headed to a nearby park where I had seen gardens full of colourful flowers.

The softness of the petals versus the spikes…

Sometimes I purposely shoot out of focus to give a dream-like quality.

This isn’t as in focus as the next photo, but notice the white bits on petals in the next one? The trade-off in the top one is the more saturated colour versus sacrificing some focus.
